Marriott World Center?
Have any of you stayed at this hotel? Is it a good hotel for a family? How are the prices on food? Thanks!

The hotel is near Ground Zero and reopened recently. Getting to and from the hotel for sight seeing is a bit of a hassle. Can walk to the ferry for the Statue of Liberty and the Staten Island ferry for a free ride with a view of the Statue and the skyline. Food prices in the hotel are what you expect to find at any hotel - high. There are restaurants in the area but the ones on the river tend to be pricey.

What can I say Roy's downstairs is one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Also Century 21 just reopened and that is a hot spot for european designers on the cheap.

Downtown is not walking distance to Soho or west village and other tourist spots. A cab ride away though. Ground Zero is not so devasting a site anylonger. I was just there on Sunday it is hard for me even to position where the towers use to be. It just looks like a construction site at the moment with only one building visably damaged. I know this sounds calous but I say as New Yorker let's all move on. I think the Downtown area is visually moving in this direction.

I just assumed you meant the Orlando Marriott World Center. I stayed there once over Memorial Day about 2 years ago. This resort has a fabulous pool area (several pools and hot tubs)and is great fun for kids of all ages. They have a beautiful atrium with glass elevators and the grounds are well kept. The rooms were just average, but overall I thought the place was very enjoyable. They were renovating two of the restaurants while we were there, so I can't really comment on that. Enjoy your trip!

Jen, I assume you are referring to the World Center in Orlando. I was there just a short while ago, and the renovations were complete. The results are impressive [I had also seen it under renovation]. They have a wide variety of restaurants there, with quite a price range. There are several moderately priced restaurants within minutes of the hotel, if you're interested. Also, it is just off the grounds of Disney, if that is one of your destinations. They provide shuttle service to it, but it is not free.

I stayed in Dec. 2002 and was very impressed with everything in the hotel. The main pool was beautiful the rooms were standard size. The beds are down and beautiful. I am allergic and they made sure they never put it on my bed again. The parking lot it a 5 minute walk at most. I thought there service was great. Any questions email me.

Jen MUST be referring to the Orlando hotel, because there is no such hotel in Manhattan. There WAS The Marriott World Trade Center hotel; OBVIOUSLY that hotel is no longer there. The hotel the other two posters are reffering to is the Marriott Financial Center Hotel; THAT is the correct name for the hotel that is south of the WTC site and on West St., across the St. from Battery Park City.
