Marriott Wailea

Hello- I am staying at the Wailea Marriott in November... How bad is it. I have seen mixed reviews on trip advisor and other sites. Has anyone been there lately?

We visited that property while we were on Maui in May and it seemed pretty nice. Wailea is a pretty place, but preference-wise I prefer the Kapalua, Napili, Kannapali area.

The Wailea Marriott is a lovely property. There was a major interior renovation of the public 3-4 years ago. That year the resort won the prestigeous Kahili award, which is awarded to places for "..keeping it Hawaiian.". The lobby areas have the feel of an old tropical ocean liner. There are lovely artifacts such as an historic feather lei collection. The grounds are spacious. The hotel is oceanfront (not beachfront), but just a short walk to the nearest beach. The rooms are just typical hotel rooms- nothing bad and nothing great. Be aware that there are some updates taking place again. I know, for instance, that the kiddie pool area is currently closed. Should be some good rates available.

P.S. Forgot to mention that it's been a little over a year since I stayed there. Can't imagine it would change that much, though!

Thank you both for your responses! They were encouraging!
