I got an offer over the phone from the Marriott Vacation Club offering me 4 days and 3 nights at one of their hotels in the next year for $198. Do any of you know if this might be a scam? When I call the phone number back the person answering says "Marriott Vacation Club". I'm skeptical but the deal sounds good. In Vegas we could stay at the Flamingo or another place I can't remember. A quick reply would really be appreciated. I would have to give them my credit card number over the phone.

Search for "timeshare" on this forum, they will push you to buy.

Flamingo in Vegas $198 for 3 nights? Check out how much it is on-line, sounds awfully close to Flamingo's specials without Marriott.

It's a timeshare. You'll be forced to attend some sort of high pressure sales presentation.

There are probably other restrictions as well.

I did a Marriott Vacation Club deal for Hawaii and it was a great deal. We spent 90 minutes at timeshare presentation and walked away. BUT you have to be able to NO and walk away. They didn't even pester us, very low key.

The deals vary my the state where you reside as to what the price is and what's included. Here's there website and you can see all the deals available. Since you can only do this once every year or 2, pick a place that you really want to go and can't do it any other way. Las Vegas doesn't seem to be that hard to get a deal without having to do a timeshare.

The biggest draw back is that you have to pay a deposit and then you can get specific dates that are available. I pushed to be sure the dates I wanted were available since I had to book airline ticket [FF miles] and that was limiting.

Do read the timeshare posts on here. Type timeshare into the search box and read up - it is worth the time.

Not a scam. I did one in the Palm Desert area. You prepay (no tax). Marriott is not especially high pressure, if you think this is high pressure you haven't been to the low end timeshare ones.

I also got an incentive (two rounds of golf). So for $199, I got three nights and two rounds of golf. I estimated the value at nearly $500 based on what I would pay on my own.

I have been to several timeshare persentations and the Marriott one was the lowest pressure one there was. We were in and out in less than and hour and didn't purchase.

I got 2 calls for MVC, saying that the offer expires soon. But don't be panicked into accepting. I suspect that the offers will be around for a long time. There are many, depending on what state you live in.

As others have said, this will include a timeshare presentation but it is not a scam. I also agree that Marriott is low key and it is really easy to walk away. We attended our first timeshare presentation with Marriott 10 years ago and we were so impressed with their product, we bought! We have been extremely pleased with our purchase and even bought a second one in Kauai! Go for it and enjoy yourself, knowing there is no high pressure to buy.

We recently stayed at the Hilton Vacation Club at The Flamingo for two nights. It's a nice place, and we didn't have to listen to a timeshare speal.
