Marriott Maui or Hyatt?
I am planning to travel to the island of Maui in August of 2001 although I am starting to find places to stay. I have narrowed it down to the Hyatt Maui, Marriott Maui or even the Kea Lani. I beleive the Marriott will have completed a renovation by then although I am not sure if it will have the pool or facilities that the Hyatt next door does or Kea Lani.

Which one would you choose out of those choices?

Thanks!

Aloha,

When the Marriott gets down it will be
by far the best resort on the Kaanapali
strip. Outdoing the pools of both the
Hyatt and the Westin and having the only true bechfornt restaurant in Kaanapali. I have seen the architect mock up and they are really something.
So my choice would be the Marriott.

JDP
Too little info to answer your question in a useful manner.
Are you going with someone? Age(s)? Like lots of activity vs. peace/quiet? Is a large pool a goal vs. average size? Romantic trip vs. standard getaway?
Kaanapali is a good fit for younger crowd seeking more activity, esp a night. Kea Lani is a better hotel in terms of room quality. Is quieter. Lot of honeymooners but families too due to the spaciousness of the rooms.

I should have included this with my first message. I am planning to travel with family whos ages are: 20,18,16. I am not looking for a place that will have little kids all over which is why I thought those properties might be able to do that for us. We would like to have a good size pool although not looking for lots of crowds of people around it.

Thank you all for your time!

Dale,

In August, you will have quite a number of kids whereever you go, but your best bet of these three would be Kea Lani, I think, pool-wise. I'm almost sure they have an all-adult pool.

BUT with teens, they might prefer to swim at the Marriott with more kids, and have the lively nightlife scene in Kaanapali-Lahaina. It's quieter in the resort area - Wailea - where Kea Lani is. The Marriott is supposed to have an incredible pool set up after renovations. Good luck.

Given the ages of your party, I think you'll all be happier in the Kaanapali-Lahaina area(Marriott,Westin,or Hyatt). But I agree with the earlier post that if you are going to a major hotel there will be kids(of all ages). But check out the Kihei-Wailea area when you are there(Especially Makena Beach). Enjoy
