has anybody stayed there? they have a fantastic promotional rate going on now. hope it's not too far away from restaurants, shopping, etc. we will have a car so will be able to drive to other spots. would appreciate any feedback as i could not find it listed under hotel rants and raves.

it's a decent hotel--right by the freeway--so you would have to drive into la jolla proper---it's a fine place to stay

I have heard that any of the Marriotts in the area are nice. What is the special promotion? I will be in SD beginning of June and am finding hotels very expensive.

it is in a sort of business community. there is a mall close by (university towne center). restaurants too, close access to freeways.

deb, the rate is $89 per night! some kind of play and stay promo that i got by calling the 1-800 #. thanks to all for your feedback.

It's not exactly a tourist location, but I would stay there. You are right by a mall and shops. You will need a car to get into La Jolla proper. The hotel is actually in the UTC (University Town Center) part of San Diego. So you aren't staying in what you think would be La Jolla. The area is perfectly safe, lots of upscale businesses and apartments. My sister has lived in the area for about 10 years and loves it.<BR><BR>Have fun.
