Marriott Ko Olina vs Hawaiian Princess

We are in the process of trading points to stay in Oahu.....the two choices we have are....Marriott Ko Olina and the Hawaiian Princess (further up north on western side). From what I've heard, the Marriott is much nicer, but I hear that there is construction that is going to be going on (not going til later next year). Also I've read (on some of these reports) that it's a hassle as far as parking, maybe noise from the construction, etc. The Hawaiian Princess seems to be older, more remote, no parking problems, etc. I take things as they come and can roll with the punches, but I would like to hear some recommendations from people that have stayed at these places how they rate them and enjoyed there stay. Also, would love to know a little bit about the places....full kitchen, comfortable, etc. Thanks for your help!

I odn't think you can really compare these two..Marriott is an almost new resort property with golf, nice restaurants, spa, and other amenities. There is plenty of parking and you can order drinks poolside.

The Hawaiian Princess is a an older condo in a pretty, but very economically depressed part of Oahu. It is probably another 20 minutes away from Ko Olina, which is 40-60 minutes from Honolulu. I wouldn't want to stay there, but Tripadvisor has plenty of positive reviews from people who stayed at the HP, and enjoyed the remoteness.

I havent' been to the Hawaiian Princess, but have been to the Ko'Olina Beachh Club (which is the timeshare property, as opposed to the Marriott Ihilani up the beach, which is a hotel - I'm not sure which one you're planning on staying at). We own at the Beach Club. It is a beautiful area. The lagoons at the resort are like a postcard, and the water is very calm.

We have been at Ko'Olina twice during the construction and it really isn't bothersome. Check out the other thread called "Ritz Carlton Construction near the JW Marriott Ihilani in Oahu?" on this board for more info. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are staying at the Beachh Club, whether you have a full kitchen depends upon what kind of room you get. If you are staying in a 1 BD unit, then you will have the master side of the timeshare room, which means you'd have the master bedroom and a second room containing a full kitchen, washer/dryer and living room with a sleeper sofa, and a balcony. This room can sleep up to 4 people comfortably. If you are staying in a guest side/efficiency room, that is more like a regular hotel room, but it also includes a small fridge, sink, microwave, dishes and coffee pot. There is also a small balcony in this room, as well as a sleeper sofa. Ths room could fit 4 people - 2 adults and 2 kids, NOT 4 adults unless you want to be really cozy!

To Juanita1989

Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear from someone who's stayed there....we've requested a 2 bedroom since we have 2 boys(have a 21 yoa and a 16 yoa). I hope we get the Marriott....impressed with all that I've read and seen! Thanks again!
