Marriott in New Orleans

I will be staying at the Marriott on Canal Street in December. How is the hotel? Is it well located ?? Has any one stayed there before??

I stayed there about 5 years ago and the location was great, easy walk to bourbon street but far enough away that is it not crowded. It is located between Bourbon streed and the river which is nice. We could walk to the casino river boat as well but am not sure if it is still running. The rooms were just
average nothing remarkable but we were hardly ever in the room anyway.

Dear Diana: Though I'm a Louisianian and live on the North Shore of Lake Ponchartrain. I had the good fortune a year ago to spend three nights at the New Orleans Marriott as the guest of a visitor who wanted my guide services. I LOVED it. It was elegant big city--but as the previous poster said, immensely convenient to the Quarter, the River, the CBD and even to other elegant spots such as the Windsor Court. We didn't gamble--so the fact that the riverboat casino had sailed off to Lake Charles or some such spot didn't bother us. It IS pricey--but I presume you know that. I thought it gave good value for the money. Have fun and welcome to New Orleans! Joan

I am in my room at the Marriott right now. I have been very impressed. It is very close to the river walk and to the nightlife. It is also a very easy walk to great dining.
