Marriott hotels in New Orleans
Has anyone stayed at any of the Marriott Hotels closest to the French Quarter in New Orleans? If so, which one would you recommend--it appears there are 4 closeby. Thanks!
|
The JW Marriott is my first choice, especially since the New Orleans Marriott is being renovated now.
|
The nicest Marriott is the Renaissance Arts Hotel.
|
The original poster inquired specifically about Marriott properties.
|
I gave him a better alternative for about the same price but much higher quality.
|
I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott on St Charles, just a block outside the French Quarter, in April. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. Other than it was small and cramped, there was nothing specifically wrong with it but it just wasn't up to the standards of the brand. I have no experience with the others.

Ike,
Perhaps the poster wanted to use Marriott Rewards, which couldn't be used at the Windsor Court... |
Doesn't make any difference what he wants to do. He asked a simple question. I gave him a better alternative. It's up to him not you Dan o ranyone else. When are you folks going to realize some people like to give a poster some additional advice, help or suggestions and quit posting negative responses. The Windsor Cour is very close to FQ and has good rates plus it's one of the best hotels in the US. There's not a Marriott even close to being that highly rated. If you can't say something nice don't say anything.

The Windsor Court was nice years ago. My wife and I even spent our honeymoon night there before flying out the next day. When we stayed last year for an anniversary, the differences were obvious: old tired rooms, indifferent staff and a restaurant that's living on past glories. I really hope the new management fixes it!

i'm not exactly sure how close it is to french quarter but my husband stayed at the resnaissance by marriot when he was working there doing katrina relief and liked it very much, even in that bad time. hope this helps and sorry i'm not sure how close it would be for you to the FQ
|
Ike,
I don't disagree with you about the Windsor Court. It's a very nice hotel. However, the poster specifically indicated that he wanted a Marriott hotel, so let's answer the question actually posted. |
I can't imagine that the Windsor Court is one of the highest rated hotels in the United States. By whom? When we stayed there I thought it was nice, but not THAT nice.
|
i would say the jw marriot but there are much finer hotels in the heart of the quarter if you plan on discovering the northshore area the are some great b&b one in particular called beechwood gardens ...was a experience we had our honeymoon there. GREAT! email if you need number.. [email protected]

bubbles76, sorry your thread has been hijacked. Please let us know which Marriott you choose and do consider the Renaissance Arts hotel as well if you're using Rewards points. It's also quite nice.
