Marriott Harbor Beach or Eden Roc
We will be staying at either of these two hotels over the long Thanksgiving weekend. It will be one room for four of us, 2 adults and 2 children (2.5/1.5).
Which property do you think would be better for us? I'm leaning towards the Eden Roc because the room states about 100 square feet bigger and the whole hotel will be newly renovated. Would appreciate all input in helping to make an educated decision. Thank you. |

I haven't stayed at the Eden Roc but it certainly looks like the renovated property will be really nice!
DH and I have stayed at the Harbor Beach quite a few times and we really like it. The service is excellent, the ocean front rooms have really nice balconies, and the rooms were just re-done last fall. You can get a fridge for your room as well. There are kids activities on the weekend and holidays which you may appreciate. There is also an outdoor type cafetaria/restaurant where you can eat meals much cheaper than in the hotel. It is out by the pool. Lots of parents choose this option because the kids can be themselves while sitting outside with their breakfast/lunch.Of course, getting around Fort Lauderdale is a lot easier than the area around Collins Avenue. The beach area is very nice - great swimming. |
Thanks Emily, it's going to be a tough decision for us, and I appreciate your input.

I have not stayed at the Eden Rock but on my last visit, we strolled on Collins Avenue and was very disappointed in the area. We did stay at the Marriott Harbor Beach many times and it is wonderful. Activities for kids and they serve free lemonaide and home baked cookies each weekend by the pool. The beach is the best and in Ft. Lauderdale there are more things to see and many restaurants.

Ok, two votes for Harbor Beach. What is wrong with the area around the Eden Roc? Just not enough to do, really busy with traffic, or undesirables? Thanks everyone. |
Would you believe we still can't decide??
Anyone been to the renovated Eden Roc? I think we would like Harbor Beach more, but I'm afraid we will be too squished and Eden Roc is 100 sq. ft. bigger. |
Asking the same question for a trip this mo. Flying into MIA so tempted to just taxi to Eden Roc & get car locally 1-2 days later.
Anybody have new feedback on Eden Roc vs Harbor? |
Eden Roc is next to the Fountainbleau - both on Collins Avenue around 44th Street, definitely not undesirable, but you really cant walk anywhere - South Beach is a cab ride south about 25-30 blocks. 41st Street is a business district the you could cab to for a CVS, restaurant, or Dunkin donuts. I haven't been in the Eden Roc since the renovation, but I did stay at the Fountainbleau earlier this summer. I didnt take my kids, but they would have loved it. There are many restaurants (you dont have to be a guest to eat there) and you are on the beach where you can rent chairs, umbrellas, and equipment.
I haven't stayed at Harbor Beach in years - my high school was prom was there a million years ago!! SO I cant really comment to much. I wouldn't get a car if you plan to stay on the Miami beach - unless you plan on leaving the beach to sight see. The parking is really expensive. Back to the Eden Roc - before the renovation I went for a spa day and it was great!! Hope I didnt confuse you - if you have a more specific question - fire away!! |
