Marriott Grande Vista Resort

I posted yesterday that my family was staying at the Renaissance Hotel for an extended vacation to my husband's business trip.

Well, we're now able to get into the Marriott Grande Vista Resort and I was wondering what the reviews are for this resort. We'll be in the 1bedroom/1bath villa and we're going the first week of Oct. Also, how far is it from the WDW parks?

Thanks in advance.

Grande Vista is a time share and you are getting a lock out unit that does not have the full kitchen and laundry. The room is more than adequate and most have gone through an upgrade cycle. You'll have a place to make coffee and a small microwave, if I remember correctly. There are several pools and nice poolside service at one of them. Great golf at Nick Faldo course and teaching academy.

Easy to get to the parks but it is about 20 minutes depending on where you are going. Very easy to avoifd I-4 and still get there. Just google a map and you will see.

We stayed at the Grande Vista in May and it's a very nice resort. It's very convenient to WDW and Universal and just around the corner from Sea World. It's a golf-centric resort, but there are several pools and hot tubs, a nice lagoon with paddleboats, and two or three restaurants. We had a 1BR/1BA with kitchen and balcony, it was half of a lock-out unit.

We managed to get lost leaving WDW each night since we weren't heading toward I-4 or the Turnpike -- exit signage in the park seems only to point to those roads. So it's probably a good idea to take a good road map of the WDW resort with you.

Have a great time!

Thanks for the replies. What is a lock-out unit? Does the 1bed/1bath not have a separate bedroom with room? We were under the impression based on the web that it was like a small condo - separate bath, separate bedroom, full kitchen, laundry, etc.

I'd call the resort to verify your unit. I was under the impression that all of the units are two bedroom, two baths or larger. You are probably staying in the larger side of the lockout. If so, you will have a large living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry facility as well as a jacuzzi in the master. The living room sofa has a sleeper sofa.

All the units have been upgraded to granite counters, etc. The other side is just the bedroom/bath and kitchenette.

You can view the floorplans and information from this link. Have a nice week. It's a good time to go, but will still be very warm. Honoria

Our one-bed/one-bath had the small kitchen, dining, & living areas (sleeper sofa was comfy with a featherbed we brought from home) on one side of the unit and the bath and bedroom on the other side (divided longwise). There was a door from the living room to the balcony, which also had sliding doors from the bedroom. Laundry was a stacked washer/dryer combo in a small closet in the kitchen area.
