Marriage Proposal @ The Cloisters

Hi,

I'll be travelling with my girl friend to NY in the next few days and she's mentioned how she always wanted to visit The Cloisters Museum. I want to propose to her there. Any suggestions of where would be a nice quiet romantic location?

Thank You

The view of the Hudson River from the West Terrace of The Cloisters is wonderful.

The Bonnefont Cloister an Garden is also lovely, though this video shows it in leafless winter:

The above choices are great.

It's a lovely location - congratulations!

and when she says yes, you could stop by here for a glass of wine or champagne, just a stroll away. . .

We loved the Cloisters--what a beautiful idea. If your phone camera is only so-so, be sure to take a camera to have someone take your picture afterward.

The interior courtyard garden was really pretty when I took my daughter's picture there, so consider a picture there also. There are more people coming and going in that spot, so don't choose it for your "ask." Good luck with your plans!

That's where my dad proposed to my mom, in 1950!

WOW!! Beautiful!! Thank you so much for the great suggestions! Is it usually crowded?

On weekends, when the weather is clear and dry, it can be crowded. If you can go mid week, it will be quieter.

It's tough to go wrong with the Cloisters... almost every where you turn, you'll see a picturesque setting that could be ideal for your proposal. In addition to the above ideas, I would consider the following:
- West Terrace
- Cuxa Cloister and Garden
- Bonnefont Cloister and Garden
- Trie Cloister and Garden

Check out the map so you can plan ahead: http://www.metmuseum.org/visit/museum-map

Also as someone suggested, there is a restaurant right next to the Cloisters called New Leaf which has a gazebo overlooking the Hudson which may also provide some privacy and romantic setting: http://www.newleafrestaurant.com/g_about.html

Best of luck and congrats!!
