Can you suggest places or city to stay at Marin Couny for a night or two?
Planning to go to Point Reyes. Any other suggestions of things to do would be appreciated. Thanks

Lodgings around Point Reyes are sketchy, as in hard to find. AAA lists Motel Inverness.

I live about 30 minutes from Pt. Reyes so I have never had any need to stay in lodgings around there, however, if I needed to stay in lodgings around the park I would probably check out something in Olema:

If you want something cheaper, I would look into a motel in Novato, which is about 35 minutes from Pt. Reyes on Highway 101.
If you are in Pt. Reyes on a sunny day, don't miss walking the Tomales Point/Tule Elk Reserve Trail:

And, of course, whatever the weather, visit the lighthouse.
There used to be a wonderful restaurant and B & B in Inverness called Manka's, but it was destroyed by a fire sometime ago. I don't know if they have yet rebuilt.

We were just thinking of spending a couple of hours at Point Reyes, so don't really have to stay in that specific area. We will probably be heading toward Lake Tahoe from there.
I see that there are several towns in Marine County to stay, but not familiar at all.

Pt Reyes is not a "couple of hours" kind of place. you should allot yourselves at least 1/2 day to fully enjoy it.

Just doing the lighthouse and the great long beach below it should take more than a couple of hours to fully enjoy that location.

You may also want to take a short hike which would also chew up an hour or two.

Depending on when you get out of Point Reyes, you could plan to spend the night in Vallejo or Sacramento. Sacramento has numerous choices for lodging and it should also place you very close to Lake Tahoe.

I have a marvelous list for lodgings at Pt. Reyes, which are really quite numerous, should you decide to stay there.

Look on Priceline at the Sheraton Petaluma. You can take D St in Petaluma (which becomes the Petaluma Marshall Road)is nearly a straight shot out to Olema/Pt Reyes.

When you want to head to Tahoe, just hop on 101 South down to Hwy 37
a 15 minute drive)and take it over to catch 80 up to Tahoe.

If you do decide to stay in Petaluma - give a shout back as there is a wee bridge closer on that route and I will be happy to
give you directions around it.

There's a nice Embassy Suites in San Rafael, right next to the Civic Center and near the freeway.

And please, don't even think of staying overnight in Vallejo. Seriously Donna, you do not want to do that. Enjoy your trip!

We allways stayed here. For several years went to Inverness on Business and this place is quiet with small kitchen area. Very nice.
