Marin Budget Hotel Close to San Rafael Farmer's Market

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are staying 6 nights in San Francisco, but would like to spend our last night outside of the city, in a quiet and romantic area, and we also want to check out the San Rafael farmer's market on our last night. We were thinking of the Best Western Inn at Corte Madera, but were wondering if there is anything out there for closer to $100/night that would be accessible to the farmer's market (we'd be using taxi to
get here and there, no car rental). Other other include Larkspur Landing (great
for taking the Marin Airporter the next day) or maybe even San Rafael itself?

Tonia, is there something special about the San Rafael farmer's market? If it were me (and assuming the San Rafael farmer's market is no different from any other suburban farmer's market around here, and believe me, every town has one), I'd stay in Sausalito instead. Lovely town, on the water, excellent restaurants, closer to San Francisco.

I too was surprised by San Rafael's market.

There is an interesting market on Saturdays at Embarcadero in San Francisco.

Maybe you want to spend the last night in Carmel (near Monterey) and take a shuttle to the airport instead - are you flying out of SFO?

Oh, you won't have a car... If you still stay in San Rafael (or Sausalito) you can take a Golden Gate transit bus.

There may be public transportation to Carmel, there is to Monterey - Amtrak or Caltrain, and a connecting bus.

Since we'll miss the Saturday market at the Ferry Building, I thought it would be interesting to experience the one in San Rafael (and get a "warm" day "in the countryside" into our trip, since the temps in the City look to be much cooler).
But maybe I'll check out Sausalito instead...thanks for the suggestion

There is a market in Healdsburgh if you can get there. Not only interesting produce, when we were there they brought some birds from a local sanctuary.
