Margaritaville in Key West

Is it worth going to Margartiville in Key West or is it just a tourist trap?

Let me answer your question with another question - How much do you like Jimmy Buffett?

Margaritaville is a total tourist trap, but if you're a big fan it's worth it for a cheeseburger or margarita and a look in the gift shop, which has some nice parrothead-type stuff.

Expect little and you'll be happy; expect lots and you may be disappointed.

Sad to say I agree with the above poster... Jimmy Buffett has become a merchandising machine and the Key West location has nothing to do with the feel of Key West... try some Cuban food at El Sibonney or hang out at the Half Shell... Come to think of it Key West has become a shadow of the charm it once was...

Yes, it's a tourist trap. But what do you have to lose by wasting a little time on a drink? At least you can say, "been there; done that."

I wasn't impressed. They were one of teh few places without music on the Saturday night we were there. We had heard that the one in Orlando was a lot of fun. The one in KW was an ordinary restaurant. We did have a drink at the bar - if you want to go, just go for a drink; there are too many really good restaurants in KW.

I wouldn't even waste my time eating there. Just go to the bar and have a quick drink.

Well, if you can get service. We were there right after the attacks. The place was slow and our waitress (who might have needed tips) found it not worth her time to even come to our table. We sat there for about 15 minutes trying to make eye contact with her before we gave up and left. Margaritaville has become too touristy.

we were in Orlando and could not even get a drink at the Margaritaville. We went inside for happy hours and was told to go sit outside and the waitress would assist us- she never came outside! We also sat down for about 15 minutes and left. I was disappointed.

We went, just to have a cheeseburger in Paradise. Burger was fine, and it was a laugh. We were there for a week, so we had plenty of time to check out all of the good restaurants.
