Must dos in Marco?

We enjoyed lunch (twice) at the Snook Inn. We were in Marco for a wedding on New Year's Eve. Weather was great and we enjoyed our short visit.

There is an area called Goodland that has -- I kid you not -- Florida's worst tourist attraction. There's this building there that claims, with a big sign, to have a museum there but it's a far cry from the truth. But a trip to Goodland is kind of interesting. It's hard to believe that people actually live like that. I think it's one of the finer collections of white trash culture you will find anywhere. They have all these little run-down travel trailers that they apparently rent to passers-through. I know you think I'm kidding but it is a funky little area that you just have to go see -- but DON'T get out of the car. Haha. No, you can get out. But I don't know why you'll want to, there really isn't a museum, they just say there is. It is a weird place.

Naples is the highlight of any trip to Marco Island :D

All true about Goodland, but you fail to mention that there a few millionaires hiding out there amongst the trailers. And the "Little Bar" is really good and fun.
But too funny. I never heard of this "museum".

Marco is quite laid back, but we loved our beach vacation there a couple of years ago. We had a fabulous condo with a first floor balcony that we practically lived on. We didn't feel like we needed anything else to do.... When we were there, the shelling was absolutely incredible. I picked so many and so many varieties that I had to put some back because I had too many to take home. Do take a side trip to Naples, though. It'll break up your week.

My friends and I go to Marco every year and being 29, we've never been bored. I leave 2/3! Yes there is a large retirement community, but there is also so much to do regardless of age. What's great about Marco is the live music 7 days a week. You can find it anywhere! Things we always find fun are, Happy Hour @ The Tides (Apollo) Karoake at Porky's on Tuesday night is always hysterical. Dancing til 2am at the Bombay Club. Bands at Biminis beach club. For upscale dining I suggest Marco Polo, Arturos, or Sale e Pepe. So good. Star Bar at the Esplanade is a great place for happy hour also. For daytime recreation, besides the beautiful beach, try parasailing, or the waverunner tours thru the 10k islands. That's alot of fun!!

ooh and I forgot! Try the h'or deovres sunset cruise on the Marco Princess. It takes you all around the island then on to the Gulf for Sunset. Cocktails and snacks included!

We were there last year and would recommend Kretch's. Nothing sophisticated but the food was first class.
The Snook Inn was also a good meal however it get very busy.

Enjoy!

Make that Goodland, not Goddard in mjks post above. Goodland is only a couple miles from Marco, but about a million miles away in atmosphere and attitude. Fun place.

A great restaurant in Marco Island is Verdi's. A local informal Italian restaurant. Very Good...
