What are the beaches like on Marco? Shelly or lots of seaweed?

Beautiful sand, relatively free of seaweed. Shells are a little north in Sanibel.

Only after pretty major storms in the Gulf will enough seaweed to notice kick up. While there is a row of "shells", mostly broken along the water line, it's much more a sand beach than a shell one.

We were there in January and I actually thought the beaches had quite a few shells/shell parts. It wasn't horrible but definitely needed something on the feet to walk on it and a towel to sit on.

I do walk barefoot on the Marco Beach, but I do not have tender feet. If your feet are really tender consider walking in flip flops or water shoes. The beach is beautiful-one of the most beautiful in the US.
