March in Newport

Can anyone give me an idea of what the beginning of March will be like in Newport? Is it still too cold to do much? But at the same time, will the things be cheaper? Thanks.

Newport in what state?

Newport Oregon is totally unpredictable. Can be sunny and beautiful or rainy. More often than not it is sunny, and I think the storms move quickly so the rain doesn't last as long as it does in the valley.

I won't write any more because I have a feeling you aren't talking about Newport Oregon!

March is a variable month. Could be cold and raw (Mud season), or more spring like. More than likely it will be cold with sunshine.
It is off season and will be uncrowded. Prices may be less (for lodging). Restaurants prices don't change.
There will be plenty to do. All the mansions may not be open yet but enough will to satisfy.
We live in Boston and go down frequently and in all seasons. There is no "bad time" to go. (Summer-high season is VERY CROWDED).

I've been a Native Newporter for 29 years & while it IS slower in winter there are still plenty of things to do in March (especially if you are here on or around Saint Patrick's Day.)

A great & informative website with a monthly events listing is http://www.gonewport.com/whattodo/march.htm

As far as the weather goes, Newport can be unpredictable but chances are you will have temps in the mid 30's and it could go to mid 40's. Unfortunately you just never know since we are by the water. My best rec is to bring layers. Hope this helps!

CMAC is right. The weather is really hit or miss in March. THe past few years have been great but with the weather we've been having in RI, who knows. The St. Patty's day parade is a pretty big event, this year on Sat. March 15.
