Map of NYC
 

I am taking a bus day trip to NYC and will be dropped off by Radio City Music Hall. I have been to the city a few times but don't know my way around. Is there a website where I can get a map of the surrounding area of restaurants, places to see, etc.

I love a DK map that is pocket size. streetwise also makes a good map.

This is not the best map, but gives you a general idea of that central midtown area and what's around there.

For finding restaurants, menupages.com is a great search engine. Since Radio City is on west 50th st., you could search for restaurants by cuisine in the west 40s or west 50s. There are a number of places in Rockefeller Center which is right across from Radio City. Both the Sea Grill and the Rock Center Cafe have views onto the ice rink and are good food. Go to restaurantassociates.com which is the owner of these 2 places plus some others. If you or one of your party has a birthday within a month of your visit, if you register for free on their website you'll get a $50 gift certificate when you spend $50. Not bad for a nice NY experience.

I think that part of New York is just about one of the easiest cities in the world to get around without a map.

The city is basically a giant grid north of 14th street. Streets run east and east, avenues run north and south.

If you are looking for places to go and restaurants, you might best be served by a guidebook, like Fodors. (see, we do sometimes recommend your products) Any decent guidebook will have a map.

What you can do also is to go to the nearest hotel you can find, then go to the concierge desk and act as if you were a guest at the hotel, and ask them for a complimentary map.
