Manhattan to LGA in snow
Need advice on getting from Manhattan to Laguardia in the snow on a busy travel day...cab? Bus? (Daughter is on upper west side & can take the M-60) - CAN one get a cab in the snow? Can one call for a cab?

I would suggest she call for a service car asap. There are several companies in Manhattan, but since it is the holiday, alot will already be booked.

Snow can mess up the city and of course the airports and since it is the heaviest travel day of the year, or at least one of the worst, expect delays out of LGA.

The cabs will be out in full force tomorrow, so if she is headed to the airport, she should leave as early as possible.

I would not suggest taking the bus to the airport as it will get stuck in traffic too and takes some of the lesser roadways.

Good luck with her travels.

If your note refers to traverling today snow will not be a factor. The snow has not materialized and it is only raining lightly. Finding a taxi should not be a major problem but traffic is expected to be heavy.

There is no snow in the city. Traffic should be heavier than usual but there should be alot of cabs going to the airport to drop people off.

While no real problem with snow today, it is in snowstorms that I am MOST likely to take a bus. Its extra weight usually means much better traction, seldom are they not running, and unlike a taxi, I'll not have to pay extra "standing fees" when the traffic is all backed up.
