Manhattan to...Idaho?
Ahh! The unthinkable has happened just as senior year is approaching my father has decided to move the family from our appt. in Manhatttan to Boise! For me it will only be a year (thank God!) but it would be nice to be reassured that Boise is a city in the 21st century, filled with the same ideals of diversity, higher thinking, and culture.....right?

Thanks- Scarlett

Sorry, honey, Boise isn't Manhattan and never will be. You will find the folks there provincial in many ways, but they also don't need to lock their cars. Just hang on tight and try to enjoy the ride. Pretend you're traveling to a strange new country.

Only one year til college, Scarlett. Being from Idaho will help in your college admissions, at least at the selective schools that strive for geographic diversity. For example, Idaho is one of only two states that isn't represented in the entering class at MIT this year!

Are you a troll? Boise is not a culturally diverse city. Known for scenery and athletic trails, but not much else.
|
Boise may not be ideal, but has to have fresher air and water and nicer scenery (maybe even nicer people) than Manhatten.
|
Come on guys Boise is great. Much better than a giant city where no one knows your name. Idaho is world famous for hospitality and small town kindness.

And potatoes!

Where is the apartment? How big is it? Is it available and, if so, what is the rent.

Visited Boise for the first time this summer. Nice city but different from Manhattan. Why not use the experience to DIVERSIFY YOUR MIND and learn what life is like outside in the real world
