Manhattan sidewalks & walking conditions

I'll be in the city for 1/2 a day next week (Feb 4th). I'm from the Adirondack region, so I know all about the cold weather, but what about the sidewalk conditions in Manhattan? Are they clear? or are they wet & slushy?

Thanks!

Manhattan streets are clean and clear, a few icy patches this morning, but no snow or slush at all. We've had a cold January, but very little precip.

Of course, that could all change by Febuary 4, but in general, Manhattan rarely keeps snow and slush around for very long.

you should bring warm comfortable shoes to walk in.

Not to worry. Sidewalks are cleared quickly, except perhaps on solely residential streets.

Even when the streets are clear you should be mindful of black ice, the invisible layer of ice that forms overnight in extremely cold conditions, which the city is currently experiencing. Do not wear shoes with flimsy slippery bottoms. Wear boots, if possible and be very conscious of how you are walking on the streets. Don't run.
