Manhattan Mexican Restaurant-do you know it??
 

A year ago we were in N.Y. down around Greenwich/Tribeca area. We walked the whole day from Rockefeller Centre to the Staten Island Ferry area. I believe we were near the New York University area? Anyways, we found just off the main street a very small Mexican restaurant- I recall they made fresh quacamole right at your table. I am coming back next month and will be visiting ground zero...I think the restaurant must be near there but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. Does it ring any bells for anyone? Please don't tell me that it's like looking for John Smith in New York City!!!<BR>

There are many restaurants that make the quacamole at your table.That area has a lot of Mexican restos..any more hints:)<BR>Look through Zagats and see if any of the names help jog your memory.<BR>Good luck

ok. I want to play some more. It was about 2-3 doors in from the main street, it was in like a small house and I recall having to go up a few steps inside the door!

You guys are awesome..ok I think it was on 5th or 6th Ave around Washington Park...so maybe around 8th to 11th streets?

Are you talking about La Margarita on Thompson & Bleecker Sts? It's right at the corner, and you have to walk upstairs to get to the restaurant.

That could be it! Is it quite small with tables along a wall on your left as you come in? And do they make quac at your table? And is the quac ingredient table kind of in the centre? And are the washrooms on the right hand side...by gosh I think this might be it!!

Does Caliente Cab Co. make guacamole at the table? Perhaps the location just east of Washington Square Park?

This is way too funny...actually why doesn't someone recommend a fabulous Mexican restaurant that makes quacamole at your table in that area and then me again can try a new place (plus I'd be interested for my next visit to that area!!)

I don't know your spot.<BR><BR> Caliente Cab company doesn't make guacamole at the table.<BR><BR> Maybe Mary has already i.d.-ed your spot.<BR><BR> BUT: get this week's TIME OUT NY, which has a huge feature on Mexican restaurants in New York, plus a huge feature on margaritas of NY.<BR><BR> AND--definitely not your spot--but Rosa Mexicano is super-famous for making guacamole at your table. East side one better.

You are making me hungry!<BR>Another vote for Rosa Mexicano!<BR>Get a pomegranite margarita!<BR><BR>Just don't do what we do - and drink too many while wearing the bread basket on your head.<BR><BR>If you are planning to go there, it's on 60th/1st and tt's more of an up-town scene. Merchants is right nearby to finish off the evening with a plethera of martini's!<BR><BR>Again, avoid the bread basket as an accesory.<BR>
