Manhattan - Irish Pubs
 

Now my husband wants to know about Irish pubs within walking distance of 55th & 7th...........am thinking they must be as plentiful as delis !! Any favorites that would also offer a sandwich with a cold one?

St. Andrew's is one of the best pubs in NYC ... 120 W. 44th Street ... and the food is good to.

there is mcgees on 55th and 8th. faces and names on 54th between 6th and 7th, (my fave), old castle is across from that. on 55th between 5th and 6th there is cassidy's. plenty of irish ones in the 40's, around broadway and 7th as well.

Kennedy's 57th off 7th/8th I believe.

I love St. Andrews, the epitome of a good Scottish pub. Does it pass for Irish too?

I third St. Andrews (Scottish, though, not Irish).

I have O' Lunneys on my menupages favorite...it looks grand!

Serve Guinness, throw up a shamrock, and you're "Irish".

Gekko, please let me know when you're going to say "what's the difference?" between Irish and Scottish when you're near any of my Irish or Scottish friends. I want to make sure I'm not in the same state at that time.

My favorite Irish pub in Manhattan is Maggie's Place at 21 East 47 Street. It is a small intimate place with a fine clientele. I found this place many years ago when a group of bagpipers left the St.Patrick's Day parade before it ended and scampered to this tavern for their ale. I followed them and my curiosity paid off
because it was a great "find" with great food and drink.

Having visited both Ireland & Scotland multiple times, I certainly appreciate the differences ... but it doesn't really extend to Manhattan taverns.

Islay single malts ... my favorite.

It absolute extends to taverns! Maggie's is a lovely little place. O'Casey's on 41st street off of 5th Avenue has great food, too.
