Manhattan hotels

I will be in NY for business and would like a recommendation on a hotel. My choices are:
Club Quarters
Holiday Inn Wall Street
The Hudson Hotel
Le Parker Meridien
The Paramount Hotel
Radisson East Side
The Roosevelt Hotel
Southgate Tower

I would like something that is close to a lot of attractions since I will be alone and on foot. I have never been to NY so I am a bit intimidated! Any other advice appreciated. Thanks!

The Paramount is the closest hotel to Times Square. Go to http://top20.travelzoo.com/Index2.htm. Click on Manhattan DEsigner hotel. Paramount is offering a special - $145 for two nights not including SAturday

Angie,

I live in New York. Don't get a hotel on the Upper East Side. You'll have to take the subway to get downtown. Below 59th street on the East side is not that bad you'll have to walk 3 or 4 NYC blocks to get to "the cool spots" Times square, 6th ave.,Centarl Park South, 34th street, are all good central locations. Have a gret time. NYC ROCKS!!!!

I haven't stayed at any of them, but I would go for Le Parker Meridien. It is w/in easy walking distance of times square and also close to some of the more upscale restaurants. Times square is interesting but I got bored after a while and at night want to escape the crushing crowds.

Avoid Club Quarters. The location is good, the lobby is very nice, but the rooms and hallways are awful. I second the Parker Meridian.

The Wall St. area would probably not be the most convenient unless you plan on spending most of your time in the financial district (which is a few miles from the theater/times sq area). As far as attractions, there are many and they are spread out. I think most tourists prefer the times sq area (40s/50s west side) although the East side, midtown is a bit more quiet and less crowded then the west. There are many stores and restuarants and many sites are walkable.

Thanks all for the advice. Like I said, it's for a business trip so I will be in the Financial District for much of the day and these are the only hotels available to me...so I just have to make the best of what's offered.
My NY contact suggested the Club Quarters and Holiday Inn as her top picks...so I'm glad I got some feedback about the Club Quarters before choosing! Parker Meridien is looking like a good choice.
Again, any more feedback - other advice is appreciated!

I would agree the Parker Meridian would be your top choice on your list. The next would be The Roosevelt - good midtown location - older hotel with character that's been nicely renovated.
IF you must/rater stay in the Financial District, I would choose the Holiday Inn over club Quarters. The Holiday Inn is new construction - and has gotten very good reviews. Rooms are on the smaller side, but are nicely and efficently designed/decorated.

I just stayed at the Paramount. The rooms are small, but the location is fantastic. $145 for two nights is a great deal. (I paid $100 per night through Priceline.)

You will be able to walk to the subway, theatre, Times Square street fair (on weekend), lots of shops, etc.
