Manhattan Club closer to PA, Bryant Park, or Grand Central?
My friend will be taking her three daughters (all under 12) to NYC for her sister-in-law's wedding. Her husband will be meeting them from another city where he is working, so it'll just be her, her daughters, and all their luggage (plus her husband's). They found a great deal at the Manhattan Club, but they'll be flying into Newark. I saw that Coach USA has a great rate for them round trip. But it only drops off at midtown in these three places: Port Authority, Bryant Park, and Grand Central Station. Is the Manhattan Club close enough to any of those for them to be able to walk there? The girls are 11, 9, and 4 years old. Or would it be smarter just to pay the extra money for a cab to drop them off at their hotel?

The Manhattan Club is in the upper
50's on West Side as is Port
Authority. Grand Central is on
East side & Bryant Park runs from
6th to 5th -
So, Port Authority is the answer.
From there (42nd St) they should
grab cab out front on 8th ave (A north
bound avenue) going Uptown to hotel.

Rhea's response is correct.
However, rather than he bus/taxi route, I suggest the four of you take a cab or car service from Newark Airport directly to the Manhattan Club. It'll certainly be easier....and might cost less!

Neopolitan, don't be so picky. If you'll note later in her response, she says, "So, Port Authority is the answer. From there (42nd St.) they should grab a cab....." So, she did write it "perfectly" early in the response.

PATRICK, cool it!
Rhea's post is very helpful and what she means is that Port Authority and the Manhattan Club are on West Side. You can't resist being sarcastic? just like in those days before you were not allowed to post here. Come on Patrick/ Neopolitan, be nice

ummm...I'm confused. So Port Authority is where?
The Coach USA fare for the four of them would be $22 round trip(the girls are free). Then if they caught a cab from the Port Authority to the Manhattan Club, would that be too much more?
Thank you so much for helping out, by the way. I very much appreciate it!

Thanks, all, for defending me. Henceforth, I shall seek guidance
from my syntax-advisor pre-posting.
Upon reflection, I think HowardR
has the answer. Even tho a cab
might cost more from NJ-NY across state lines-
I believe - note Not a definite -
with 4 people plus luggage, it
might fiscally prudent ...not to
mention, 4 women schlepping sufficient regalia for a wedding!

Okay, then I'll tell her what you all suggested. Originally, we had figured that a cab would be the smartest thing, but when she saw the cheap rate for the coach, she thought twice. But I'll let her know what y'all said. Thanks again, and have a great weekend!

I walked by the Manhattan Club this morning, and it looks like a very nice hotel, it is just west of 7th Ave at 56th St.
As per your question, I would suggest getting a service car to pick you up, and the cost will be about the same as a taxi into the city, but the service will be a bit nicer and the cars are usually lincoln towncars.
You might try Televiv or a website I have recommended has info on prices and I think you can even make a reservation www.dial7.com.
Have a great time while you are here.

I forgot to mention that there are several places for food in the immediate area, delis, cafes, a starbucks (or 12), fast food, and some very nice restaurants, so she shouldn't have a problem finding a nice spot.
Hope this helps.

I agree on the car service.
The bus might be cheaper - but for a woman traveling with what sounds like a lot of luggage and two smallish kids trekking through the Port Authority dragging the luggage and watching the kids never mind fighting for a cab sounds like too much.
(Port Authority is certainly safer than is used to be - but I wouldn't let go of a 4 years old's hand in that mob.)
