The location isn't the greatest. not near anything in particular (closest to madison sq garden and walking distance to times sq). Not too far from things but not the best place to be. I haven't seen it but it's 1*. 3* hotels in NYC can be dated so I'd be a little nervous about this. Unless someone responds who has been there, I'd hold off in a reservation. You should check out priceline. You probably could get something 3* in that price range (see the web site biddingfortravel.com for more info)

Hi George...this hotel is located in the garment district...it's very busy during the day with workers hauling racks of clothing to and from the buildings and trucks...at night there's not much going on...Madison Square Garden and Macy's are a few blocks south...The Empire State Building is 4 blocks south and then a couple of Avenues up...there's alot of restaurants that are closed in the evening because they cater to the office workers...across from Madison Square Garden there's a few fast food chain restaurants and up and down 34th Street that are probably open later...I guess if you're just looking for a place to sleep it may be okay but it rates only 1* on the various travel and hotel sites...if you have time keep looking.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would put up my experience there in case anyone is searching the site for current info. We stayed in the hotel in July. Certainly it was very very cheap for the location but, really as we expected, it was small, dingy, bug rich and had very little in common with the pictures on the internet. But, hey, New York! We were in the room only to sleep and then were out again so we put up with it. I would never stay there again but could not find anything anywhere near that was comparable pricewise for three adults in the one room. The price meant we could spend more in the restaurants! However if you don't like bugs, don't like dirt, don't like tiny rooms and don't like to be in an iffyish area at night, this is not the hotel for you.

Go to www.biddingfortravel.com. Check what hotels folks have got in N.Y. on Priceline and then bid on Priceline. I suggest staying in Midtown West.
