Manele bay resort
Any recent stays here? How are the grounds and gardens. We have reservations for a courtyard view. Anyone know how good the view is here? I know there have been some intensely opposing views on this resort....maybe the service has improved? (Conde Nast still rated it in their gold list for 2002)

You didn't mention a city or state. Are you talking about the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas? Or is Manele bay somewhere in Hawaii, perhaps? Help.
|
The poster quite clearly said MANELE, not Mandalay, and since she's apparently spelling it correctly, it's quite obvious she means Hawaii!

Marilyn, the grounds and gardens are quite beautiful and I can honestly say that it's one of the few resorts I've been to where I would have been just as pleased with a garden view as an ocean view, believe it or not! You'll be just fine!

If you use your snorkle gear off the far left end of their beach, it has some of the most uniquely beautiful underwater topography around.
|
Make sure you are getting a garden view not a view of the parking lot. Last year there was construction of a new subdivision going on just to the north of the hotel and there are rooms that face it. I would make sure that your room is in fact garden view. We have stayed in garden and ocean view and I have to agree that the garden view can be very nice due to the spectacular landscaping. Service was good last year but I have to admit not quite as good as two years earlier.

Bring snorkle gear with you...... the stuff they provided last year was horrible, and their is no option to rent better. The Lodge is wonderful!

Rob, I wasn't being rude, I really wanted to know. How was I suppose to know she clearly said Manele bay and didn't have a typo. I'm assuming thee correct name is Manele Bay. So perhaps she did have a typo after all!! Perhaps if she had listed a city or state, I wouldn't have been confused.

I would check the recent postings on this resort. I was there last year and thought it was not anything special. There are other better resorts. The staff was quite rude.
|
I agree with you, Alisa--I, too, would never return there, but since there are still some people out there who rave about the place(?), and since Marilyn was asking about the room differences, that is all I addressed in my respone because, she, too, might turn out to be one of those that's absolutely fascinated by this resort, who knows!! But I'm not one of them!!

kkg, how old are you--12?!?
Stayed here June & found it to be mediocre. The best part of the stay wasn't the resort but watching the dolphing playing alongside the ferry on our way back to Maui. Service was fine for us though others complain. Never had an employee that didn't greet us in the hallway. The hotel gardens are beautiful. The hotel itslf seems a little bland though decorated beautifully it just wasn't homey. The food was mediocre to not so good. Minuses were thet you weren't allowed to move covered lawn chairs out of the immediate pool area. Just 100 feet away were grassy areas with lovely views of the ocean. It is a little bit of a trek to walk to the shore. The second best part was visiting the Lodge which was gorgeous. In all, we wouldn't return except to stay at the Lodge. Have you visited the other islands yet?
