Manele Bay Hotel Service
I am going to stay at the Manele Bay in August 2004 for my honeymoon. When I checked their website for rates, I found a fantastic romance package rate and immediately called to make a reservation. The hotel reservation agent gave me a price that was almost $200 per night more expensive than the price listed on their own website. We were both confused so the agent transferred me to the reservation manager. I left the manager a message and she promptly called me back and said that she was going to research the issue. By the end of the day she called to inform me that the hotel's webmaster has accidentally listed the 2002 romance package rates as the 2004 rates. She thanked me for bringing this to their attention, obviously, and said that she was going to honor the 2002 room rate for us.
So far, the service has been great. Everyone I have spoken to on the phone has been courteous and answered all of my questions. I seems like they were having trouble with service in 2002 and improved by the tone of the posts on this board in 2003. Has anyone been there recently (2004)? Please let me know how they are doing.

Four Seasons has announced that it will take over management of both Manele Bay and Lodge at Koele on Lanai in the near future. That will mean better service and accommodations. You should check with the hotel and get more information about this change in management and how it may affect your plans.

I don't think it will necessarily mean better service and accomodations. I think by turning both those into Four Seasons, they will become more generic. I love Four Seasons generally, but there is something about a hotel that is quite nice without the Four Seasons name attached.

Manele Bay and Lodge at Koele are both currently managed by Starwood Hotels, so I'm not sure it would be any more generic under 4S management that it is under Starwood management. From what I read, this change won't take place until late 2004 (Manele Bay) and early 2005 (Lodge at Koele).

I will have to call them and make sure none of the services that are currently offered are going to be changed in light of the management switch. It is a beautiful hotel on a beautiful island. I just want the service to be up to par. We are spending a lot of money on this trip and I want it to be very relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for the updates.
