Mandalay Bay or MGM with Children

We will be going to Las Veags in August and can't decide between Mandalay Bay or the MGM. Our kids are 7 and 3 and would like to stay somewhere it's kid friendly and has a great pool. Although MGM sounds like there is more to do for children my reservations about MGM is the size of the hotel (too big to get around). How is the pool at MGM? Also is there a wading pool at Mandalay Bay?Any insights? Thank you in advance.

Hi sunni,

MGM is in my opinion the better choice.

Not to sway your choice, but just to be sure - Do you know that Las Vegas is very adult oriented? Everyone chooses a vacation based on lots of different things, so please don't be insulted by this question. I just wanted to make you aware.

Whatever you do, have fun!

Sunni,
My husband and I went to vegas last fall and stayed at the Luxor. We visited the Mandalay bay and the MGM, both of which are very close to the luxor. We were able to get a tour of the pool area at Mandalay even though they were checking room keys. It was gorgeous! I thought then that I'd love to bring my kids back to vegas next time and stay there. Sorry, I don't remeber if they had a wading pool, but I can't imagine they wouldn't. MGM was very nice and had the lion exhibit. Fun also, and in their defense, I did not see the pool area, but my first choice with kids would be Mandalay. I saw more family types there.
Hope this helps. And of course, this is on an opinion!
Heidi

Thank you Lily. Yes I am aware of Vegas being adult oriented and thank you for asking it so nicely. I know there has been a lot heated discussion about this topic and I didn't want to bring them up. Just something we are thinking of doing and I appreciate your comments.

Sunni, MB is far better than MGM. You and your kids will enjoy the pool much more, the resort is less crowded feeling and it's a much nicer place. MGM isn't as luxurious as MB and it's much harder to get around.
I don't know anyone who is familiar with both (not just passersby) who would vote MGM over MB.

Don't worry about Vegas being adult oriented - it has surpassed Disneyworld as the #1 travel destination in the U.S.
I agree that Mandalay Bay is nicer than MGM. We stayed at MGM and went to Mandalay to eat at the House of Blues (which was fun). It is at the very south end of the strip but MGM is near the south end, too, so there's not much difference there- you will be close enough to MGM if you want to go there. Actually it might be more relaxing to stay at the end of the strip with kids anyway. I have heard that the bus service is great in Vegas- unfortunately we heard that after we returned (having spent too many $ on cabs).
