MANA KAI -- INFORMATION PLEASE

Has anyone stayed here? Want to be close to the Wailea area but not pay the big bucks -- would you recommend this property?

Julie, I can't speak from experience there; however, I've read a lot of literature about it. We stay right down the beach at the Renaissance Wailea so I can recommend the LOCATION - the beach there is superb. I know it it was all re-decorated in 1995, and I've never heard anything bad about it. I think it's probably fine, not luxurious, but fine for the money. Good luck!

Julie, my wife and I and our 20 year old
son stayed five nights at the Mana Kai
in June, 1998. It was wonderful, so
much so that my wife and I are returning
in February, 2000. The 8 story building
sits directly on the finest walking
beach in Maui, and all units face
directly onto the beach and ocean.
They are all two bedroom units, but you
can rent the one bedroom portion
separately if preferred. The second
BR is actually a motel type unit with
a separate entrance w/small refrig &
microwave, but no view. The main one
bedroom unit has full kitchen, private
balcony facing beach/ocean, and sitting
area. It is a smallish kitchen w/
counter top type eating. Some units
may have a combo small dinette/sitting
area. The bed is adjacent to the
balcony with full outside views from
the bed itself. Both units have
separate baths. The outdoor pool is
surrounded by a large grassy area
situated directly next to the beach.
Downstairs in the building is a very
fine but casual restaurant, and a small
grocery store. Sunsets are not visible
from most of the units, but are most
gorgeous from any lounge chair on the
grassy plateau outside. One can walk
along the beach to all of the ocean front properties in Wialea.

A stay of less than 5 nights results
in a cleaning fee charge of about $50.
Hi season rates for one BR are $175
to $200 average; low season about $130.
The 2 BR units are $20/25 additional.

There are several owners who rent direct. E-mail me for a list. Their rates are about 20-30% less.
Aloha, 2 years after, but I was researching the archives on Mana Kai and came across your reply to a query. We love the Wailea area, and The Renaissance Hotel, but eating in restaurants every night is not appealing at all. This is why we wish to stay at a condo this next time. We would like a 2 BR condo. If you have a list of owners who might be willing to discount their property, that would be wonderful. Thanks for any help.
