Mama's Fish House

I keep seeing recommendations for Mama's Fish House on this site, along with numerous comments about it being expensive. I have gone to their web site, but the pricing is not listed with the menu. Can anyone give me an idea of what a meal might cost there, or even one entree? We will have a party of five going at Christmas.

Had dinner at Mama's on June 14th. It was our third dinner there (honeymoon, 1st anniv. & 10th anniv.). One of of favorite spots for dinner on Maui. The grounds are fantastic with the beach and rolling surf only a short walk away. As for the food, it doesn't get much fresher or better. The prices are comparable to any other Maui restaurant. Mid $20's for a typical fish plate. I recommend the Mahi Mahi, but that's me. You really can't go wrong at Mama's.

Marilyn, count on around $75-$100 a couple depending on drinks. Yes, the meals range from $25-$40, but when you add drinks, salad, desserts, and etc, it will add up quick.

When my husband and I had dinner there in April our bill with tip was about $150. We each had an appetizer, an entree, and I think we split a dessert. I had a beer and my husband had iced tea. The place is expensive, but very good all the way around. You won't be disappointed!

The cheapest lunch (a sandwich) was 22 bucks. Waitress was snooty. Grounds are lovely but I wished I had packed a picnic lunch instead.

After three years of living in Hawaii, Mama's remains one of my favorite all time restaurants. It's worth every penny if you like fish!

I would not say that it's comparable in price to most Maui restaurants - it's definitely higher. Whether or not it's worth the price is a matter of personal opinion. Yes the setting is beautiful and it's almost worth it for the atmosphere alone, but I actually had better fish at I'O and Sansei. Don't get me wrong - I liked the place and wasn't disappointed with our meal there, I'm just not sure we would go back only because there are so many excellent restaurants on Maui that provide a better value.

You may also want to check the 'rants and raves' section as some people have posted prices there.
