Mall of Americas--Hotel recommendations

I might be visiting M of A for 2 nights in March and would like some recommendation for hotels nearby. I'm open to all stars--just want to hear about any and all stays.
Thanks, Jane

Jane,

I stayed at a Homewood Suites right across the street from M of A a few years ago. I got a good deal, maybe because it was the 4th of July weekend. It was nice having the extra room and the kitchen. I was touring the area so I had a car, but unless it was raining, I just walked to M of A from the hotel.

There was an IHOP right next door (came in handy when I didn't arrive until 1:00am due to weather and hadn't eaten all day!) and a Friday's close by also, not to mention all the restaurants in the mall.

The Sofitel is a few miles down the highway, and is very nice indeed. Their website often has great deals.

A vote for Country Inn and Suites by Carlson......right across the street from MOA, IHOP and Fridays on the premisis, and a shuttle to the Mall. Stayed 3 night while on a biz trip to MOA and loved it.

There are tons of nice hotels in all categories in the bloomington and st paul area. All of them usually have good deals on room rates. Having had 3 sons attending school there we always go to biddingfortravel.com and price rooms and bid on priceline or hotwire. Sofitel is our favorite and they always have a decent web rate or week end rate, though it is about 15 minutes or so away. Country inns is nice. Now there is IKEA right next door to MOA. While you are there head to the Galleria which is just down a stop or two. Nice upscale shops there. You can check rooms from the airport to west bloomington and still be in the vicinity.

Would also suggest Carlson's Country Inn and Suites. Homewood Suites is also good.
