Mall of America
Our family is going to Mall of America for spring break and I am open to suggestions for lodging. I am looking for a close, fun, and kid friendly hotel/motel. I have 3 boys, ages 14,12,6.

Thanks, Shannon

There are tons of hotels/motels right adjacent to Mall of America. Just depends on what your are looking for and what price range you want. There is a Country Inn by Carlson right there as well as Fairfield Inn, Days Inn, Doubletree Hotel, Hilton Hotel, etc. There are also Hampton Inns and Radisson and many others all with shuttle service to the Mall. If you are looking for a Suite-type Hotel there is also an Amerisuites. Just depends on your price range and what you want. You will find the hotels/motels right next to the mall may be slightly more expensive than those a little bit further away - but some do have Mall of America Specials too. I don't know how long you plan to be there but you may also want to go to the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley (not too far away) - my nephews really enjoyed it. If you like Malls, I also love Southdale in Edina and I think the stores downtown Mpls. are good. If the weather is nice, go out around the Lakes (Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, etc.) Lots of people running, skating, etc. It is a nice place. Enjoy your trip. I love Mpls. and wish we were going too.

Shannon -- Check out the official website: www.mallofamerica.com. This won't help you with lodging, but will give you info about what's at MOA. Your boys will have a great time!

I live very close to the Mall of America and have visited almost all of the hotels in the Twin Cities area mostly near Mall of America. Some places that I would stay at with family would be the Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport South. Another place that you might want to consider would be the Hilton Minneapolis aiport. Another property that is nice is the Marriott. Although it was under numerous renovations most all of it is completed and I feel a top place to stay at near the Mall of America. Overall though when considering all the hotels in that area I would go with Embassy Suites. They offer guests a ten story garden atrium and a indoor pool, whirlpool, and exercise room. They also offer guests complimentary breakfast and cocktail reception nightly. A website that has information on the Mall of America hotels and includes photos of most of the properties go to:
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/...e/1254/MSP.htm

If you have any questions or need any information please feel free to contact me!

Tony Olson
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/...254/index.html

Hi, Shannon!

I'm from MN (lived here all my life!), and have visited the MOA numerous times. Minimum of once a year. I would opt for the Embassy Suites BECAUSE not only do they have free breakfast, free evening cocktails, and atrium pool, a micro and fridge in each room plus the roomier rooms (actually a bedroom and a living room with a sleeper couch), they ALSO have a special going on right now called "family suite retreats". It's only $109/night for all that! (believe me, I know how hard it is to find a reasonable hotel -- I have 4 boys myself, ages 3,5,7,9!) This is more than we usually like to spend for a hotel, but with the free breakfast, etc. and the NICE accomodations, I think it's worth it if you can afford it! Check out embassysuites.com.

My vote goes to Embassy Suites also. My kids LOVE having their own room and TV, and they really like the all-you-can-eat cooked-to-order breakfast. If you're going to be at the mega-mall during the week, they have a family deal on I think Tuesday nights (but check with them for the exact day of the week) where you can get a wristband for all the rides. Otherwise they are outrageously expensive.
