Malibu restaurants

I'm seeking recommendations for a restaurant on or near the beach in Malibu--food must be good, atmosphere can be casual.

Thanks!

Gladstones is the only choice for me. Some may disagree but it just brings back great memories. The beach setting is perfect.

Thanks! I'd read some mixed reviews about Gladstone's and was concerned because, for us, even a great view can't elevate mediocre food.

Gladstone's is an atrocity.

There, I said it.

Great views, OK drinks, horrible food. You do Happy Hour there (drinks and views only)-- then go somewhere else-- anywhere else-- to eat.

Besides, it's not in Malibu. It's in Pacific Palisades.

Geoffrey's (which IS in Malibu) is the usual answer to this type of request, although a restaurant critic friend of mine (who wrote for "The Independent" in London) says it's gone WAY downhill in the last couple of years. I haven't been in several years myself. But those views are incredible.

Moonshadows is mediocre-- but still light-years better than Gladstone's.

Do yourself a favor: Go to One Pico (at Shutters on the Beach) in Santa Monica. Great views, quite accomplished food.

Thanks, rjw, I'll check it out.
