Malibu Fires ~ Are they affecting Carmel and Big Sur area?

We're headed to Carmel this Wednesday, November 28 for a 50th birthday celebration.

A selfish question...is there smoke or haze from the Malibu fires in Carmel or Big Sur?

These two locations (Malibu-Carmel) are a little over 300 miles apart...unless the winds are blowing north...

Even if smoke remnants have made it to the area (i doubt it, though), the coastline beauty would not, in my opinion, be any less gorgeous.

if there is a south/southwest wind - that would be coming in over the Pacific so it would be moist and help control/douse the fires thus reducing the smoke.

If it is a north wind - the smoke would be going the opposite direction from where you'll be.

If it is and east wind (Santa Ana) - the smoke would blow out to sea.

You don't have anything to worry about.

They aren't affecting Big Sur or Carmel area. Those fires are 7 hours drive from Post Ranch Inn.

No smoke, no haze... all overcast and looks like rain in Grover Beach... two hours south of where you'll be.

HAve a wonderful trip!

Thanks to all of you! It looks like the weather will be nice, too. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those in Malibu. ((L))
