Makena Surf, Maui worth the $$?

Have tentative reservations there. We are a quiet, middle-age couple and don't need a lot of activities. It looks great on the web but would appreciate feedback from anyone who has stayed there. Thanks.

Depends on how many $$ you're talking about. What kind of rate/room did you get?

Rates are still not established for next year. I think it will be approx. $300/nt. for a 1 bdrm.

Makena Surf condos are very nice, Makena is a quiet part of Maui, not much going on. You can wander down the beaches, etc. If you want peace and quiet, that's the place.

Makena Surf is the perfect place for quiet, middle-aged couples like you and us. Last December we spent a wonderful week there. The condos are lovely, spacious and comfortable, with great ocean views. The property sits on a rocky point between two beaches. One is wide and sandy and very long. The other is also sandy, but smaller. Both offer good snorkelling, with turtles, and neither one was ever crowded. Even the swimming pool was quiet and serene. 5 golf courses are right across the road (3 at Wailea, 2 at Makena). We're going back again!
