Maison Dupuy-safe or not?

Four of us will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversaries in NO during French Quarter Fest and had quite a time finding a hotel at a reasonable rate. We finally settled on Maison Dupuy, basically because they had availability. After reading other postings about the safety issues near Rampart I am having second thoughts. Should we be concerned?

I just stayed there last month & could see no problems. If you are nervous take a cab but you are only a couple of blocks from Bourbon. If you stay on Toulouse (walking back) it is fairly well lit & you should feel safe.

There's a difference in being on Rampart and being near it. If you'd opted to stay in a hotel on Rampart I'd advise you to take cabs at night, but at Maison Dupuy you'll only be two blocks from Bourbon. As in all parts of the French Quarter, just be sure to stay in well lighted, populated areas. There's a huge police presence in the French Quarter - both uniformed and undercover. Have fun!
