Maintenance?

Has anyone else been unable to get on Fodor's because of a maintenance message? I usually use AOL and couldn't get on Fodor's from late Friday night through most of Saturday. This morning I tried using Internet Explorer and was able to get on. A little while ago, I tried getting to Fodor's on AOL and got that same "down for maintenance" message. When I tried on IE I got right on. So now I'm wondering whether Fodor's was ever actually down. There seems to be a gap in posting times Saturday. But it's hard to tell for sure.

Hello CAPH, from sometime last week for a few days Fodor's system was not working properly. Everyone had problems. But to my knowledge noone had any problems Friday night through Saturday.

If you go onto Frequent Q&A's you will see some information and email addresses that you can write to for any problems but don't expect an answer right away.

There has certainly been a gap in posting times for about a week. I do not know what that is all about but you are not the only one that has noticed that.

Take care, and enjoy your children being home!

Thanks, LoveItaly! I am very much enjoying my kids, even though my 16 year old insists on being a typical teenage male!

I'm beginning to wonder whether the problem I was experiencing was with AOL rather than Fodor's. Everytime I try to get to Fodor's on AOL I wind up on Bookspan with a message saying they're down for scheduled maintenance. I guess I need to contact AOL.

Any other AOL users out there who've experience problems?

I just tried again to get to Fodor's on AOL and, again, was sent to Bookspan where I got the "down for scheduled maintenance" message.

CAPH--
I couldn't get on at all Sat. AM, it must've been late afternoon EST when things started working for me. I didn't get the bookman site but did get the down for maintainence message whether I went to fodors.com or fodors.com/forums.

I use moxilla or IE. We don't have aol...

I got the same message as CAPH from early Saturday morning until late last night. This morning is the first time I've been able to get on w/o seeing the same message since Friday night. Hmmmm?

I've been using IE, not AOL.

I just tried again a few minutes ago to get to Fodor's on AOL. Got the same message. What an odd situation. Guess it's not an AOL problem if some of you are getting it on IE.

Problem solved.
Your AOL is calling up a cached page. Try purging your cache, cookies, etc. in your browser. Download Firefox. Good luck!

I found the same thing when I tried to log on again at home last night, CAPH, yet had no problem logging on here at work. I finally just googled Fodors Travel Talk and got in that way from home.

I'll have to try deleting my cookies tonight and see if that keeps me from getting the Book Span Maintenance page.

CAPH52 - even tho you do use AOL, once you're online you can launch Internet Explorer (or Firefox if you've installed it) and try browsing with that. Maybe you'll not have the problems (and maybe you will).

Actually, rb, IE is how I've been getting on Fodor's. I've been unable to get on at all on AOL since Friday night. However, I just tried Statia's method of getting here through Google and that worked on AOL.

That's one of the things that seemed so odd, others were getting the message on IE at the same time that that was the ONLY way I could get on. I suspect fehgehddaboudit is right and that I need to clean my cache and cookies. However, I'm wondering whether getting here through google will now direct me to the right page instead of the Bookspan thing.
