Maine Fall Foilage - Oct 15 too late?

Please tell me if Visiting the coast of Maine to see the Fall colors will be a dud if I go around the weekend of Octoner 15th??
Specifically, I'm looking at a trip to Bar Harbor. Any thoughts appreciated!

Lori, October 15 is a bit late for fall foliage in northern New England. Bar Harbor is a beautiful place, but not really the best as a foliage spot, since it's on the seacoast, where most of the trees are pines and oaks. The best spots for foliage are in the mountainous areas of the New England states. Don't worry however, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are very scenic areas, and will be quite deserted by October!

Lori--Yankee Magazine's website has a foliage section with a map that gives a general idea of "peak" foliage dates for New England Foliage--www.newengland.com
I agree with the previous poster that you may be a little late to see the best color, but don't let that change your mind about visiting Maine--it's beautiful no matter what time of year. Have fun!
