Maine coastal towns
Hello! I just booked two nights each at B&Bs in the towns of Ogunquit, Boothbay and Bar Harbor. Not wanting to return home to western New York from Bar Harbor in one day, does anyone have a suggestion on another Maine town I could book on the way home? Thanks.

Castine or Camden. Camden will be closer to Portland. Have you gotten the latest editiion of Maine:An Explorer's Guide? This is a great Maine guidebook!

Kennebunkport, where the Bush family lives, is a pretty quaint and lively town with plenty of restaurants and shops.

Pam, How do you know about Castine? It seems that no one else has even heard of it. I love that little town!
My husband went to college at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine. For his graduation his parents stayed at the Castine Inn (a very nice B&B). We had dinner there the night before the ceremony, it was great. I love the Reef, a small sailor's bar on the waterfront. They have the best pizza. Bah's Bakehouse has the most delicous homemade sandwitches, soups, and baked goods. My husband keeps saying that he wouldn't mind going back to teach at the college one day. |
Castine is very quaint and quiet. Kennebunkport is more active---lots to do---Kennebunkport would be more like Boothbay Hrbr and Bar Harbor. I personally would choose Kennebkprt over Castine----but that's me----maybe you want peace and quiet!

Check out the website for the Castine Inn.
