Maine

Flying into Boston in a few days than taking a few days in Kennebunkport. Any recommendations for any good restaurants along the way or in Kennebunkport?

We love Petey’s Summertime Seafood in Rye, NH and always stop there on our way up to Maine from Boston. We like sitting in the bar area and having lobster. They have a regular dining room, but we think the bar has a more “local” feel.

In Kennebunk there is a French bakery called Boulangerie - A Proper Bakery that is fantastic! Better croissants than I’ve had at some Paris bakeries. They sell out quickly, so go in the morning for the best variety.

In/near Kennebunkport:
The Pilot House
Cape Pier Chowder House
Alisson's
The Maine Diner
and for sure The Village Tavern

Nearby, Ogunquit
The Crooked Pine
The Lobster Shack
Pepper's Landing

I just learned that Maine is larger in area than all of the other New England states combined. At one time it was part of Mass.

Just returned from 3 nights in Boston and Kennebunkport. Last in Boston about 4 years ago and last in Maine about 10 years ago. A few observations. Lodging prices in Boston and Maine appear to be much higher although part of this might be because of time of year or booking with little advance notice. The Liberty was over $1000 for a Thursday night which is about 3X more than what I last paid. Places I looked at in southern Maine were also much more expensive than when I last visited but not to the extent in Boston.
Ate at the Neptune Oyster bar in Boston which had decent food but maybe not good enough to wait in a long line. Noisy. Saltie girl had better food but quite pricy and very different now they have expanded. Stopped by the Ipswich clam box on the way to Maine as it was a place my partner used to visit during the summers when she was a young girl. Quite good. It reminded me of places I visited when I used to visit Maine in the 80's. Had lobster had Maribel's Lobster claw and Nunan's lobster hut. Nunan's more old school and less expensive. Both were good. We did not eat at any of the suggestions but thank you all for your input.
