Magnolia Hotel, downtown Denver?

I live in Denver, and am looking for a venue for an upcoming event. We'd need a block of rooms, and a dinner for 50.

The Magnolia has been very helpful and responsive with their proposal, and their prices are very good. But I have no direct experience with the Magnolia.

It's a charming boutique style hotel, recently opened, and a good location for our group.

Has anyone done business with the Magnolia lately? Or stayed there recently, attended an event, or eaten dinner there?

Thanks!

I've attended off-site meetings there in the past. Facilities were comfortable and the food for our breaks, etc was good and nicely presented.

Thanks, martym. Would you recommend it, if you were looking for a relatively low-key college reunion venue?

I think it would be fine.

The Magnolia is fabulous.... can't beat the service and location either. Superb service ! My favorite place to stay downtown...

Thanks! I'm going to check it out myself next week. Anyone else have any experience there?

The TripAdvisor posts are mixed about the rooms and their furnishings being tacky. Anyone know?

I've stayed at the Magnolia a few times, and I can recommend it as being charming without stuffy. Some other downtown hotels have attitude, but I found Magnolia to be quite professional.

Thanks, happy-train. You wouldn't consider the rooms' furnishings to be tacky? I like your description that it's charming, not 'stuffy'. That's what this group would like.

Dare I say that "tacky is in the eye of the beholder" ? To me, the fake flowers at Holiday Inn are tacky. A concierge who doesn't actually score you a great reservation is tacky.

I don't want to over-promise, but for the price range that Magnolia is in, I enjoyed it.

The only other hotel in downtown Denver that I really liked, that had unique decor, was the Hotel Teatro, but I haven't been there for a few years.

Thank you again. I think I'll go down there this week with a friend, for cocktails and see what I think of their service and private dining rooms.
