Mackinac Island / City
 

I am doing some research for my sister, they will be heading up to the UP and would like to spend a night or two at Mackinac but they don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel.

Looking for a decent hotel with a nice view (moderate price) either on Mackinac Island or just over the bridge.

Any ideas ?

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which is right next to the bridge in Maackinac City. There isn't a view from the rooms that I know of, but you can walk a couple blocks to the Mackinac Bridge park which is really nice. You can also walk to the area where all the shops, etc. are. We were very happy with the hotel. We were in an end room right next to the bridge and could hear traffic on the bridge. It didn't bother us, but you might request a room at the other end of the building if that would be a problem for you.

For a random weekday I checked in July, it was around the same price as the Holiday Inn Express (around $129/night).
