Mackinac Bridge fireworks photos
I was in Mackinaw City for the Mackinac Bridge 50 year celebration on July 28. Although I haven't had time to put most of the photos online, the shots from the fireworks displays next to the Mackinac Bridge are now online at http://www.mightymac.org/50thanniversaryfireworks.htm

Keith Thanks, great pictures. Mackinaw what a great place. I recommend highly to all our friends and family visiting Michigan. It's worth the drive.
Theresa in Detroit. |
Such grand pictures, Keith. I was there too that day, but was too pooped to see the fireworks. Thanks for this chance. The St. Ignace parade was so sweet, so many families enjoying it. The Budweiser Clydesdales and the wonderful men who worked on the bridge and told their stories were high points.
St. Ignace is such a friendly town. I love to visit my daughter there who is the area veternarian. It is like a small Maine village on the sea. Isn't that bridge amazing? Judy Alban |
Yes, Judy.
Though I now live in Kansas, I've always thought of it as "my" bridge. I was born a few weeks after they broke ground for the bridge (one of my class mates was born the day they broke ground - her name is Bridget). My parents' home is less than a block from the foot and my Grandmother's house had to be moved for the bridge to be constructed. Only bad part was that my father lost his job the day the bridge opened. He worked on the ferry dock. Keith |
Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos with us, Keith.
smokey, I think I had some pretty decent meatloaf from Goldies...and, if my old memory is serving me correctly, the owner is from Atlanta...is that right, Keith. Keith, where in Kansas? I lived in Wichita for a few years. Anyway, your photography is grand!! |
iceeu2,
I don't know if it was Atlanta, but they came from the South. I think they may still return there. The restaurant is quite seasonal. I live in Johnson County (metro Kansas City). Maybe I can make you homesick for Wichita. I also have a hobby site encouraging Kansas tourism: http://www.kansastravel.org BTW Smokey, I will be back up there the week after you. It will be my parents 70th Wedding Anniversary. Keith |
Cool!
