LV to LA (Anaheim) no car
 

Can anybody suggest a good way to get from Las Vegas to LA (or Anaheim) as we want to see Disneyland after completing a tour of the Caynon NP that ends in Las Vegas.

We will have already dropped off our car and didn't really want to hire another one.

Is there a train or shuttle bus? Or can somebody suggest a tour of some sort (one way obviously).

We will be flying back to NZ from LA.

The best would be to fly into Orange County -- or possibly Long Beach or LAX. Orange County would be the most convenient . . . .

Greyhound bus. Some casinos have turnarount buses that shuttle prospective customers to and from LA, leaving in the early morning and returning later the same day. Most casinos that offer these are those that are in the Stateline (i.e. border of CA and NV)because they want to generate more business. One such casino is Whiskey Pete located in the stateline. Casinos located in the "strip" may not offer this because they generate enough
business. Also, check with Greyhound Bus where they have their bus terminal in LV. Hope this helps.

A quick check on Greyhound.com (bus) showed time of trip between 4-6 hours and a cost of about $40.

Kayak.com (listing lowest airfares) shows 1-hour flights between 2 cities with cost about the same.

Bus might be unpleasant. some of decision might be based on where tour ends (hotel, airport), but airport in Las Vegas is very close to city. There are several airports in Los Angeles area, but you are probably flying out of LAX.

Would also depend on if you are spending more time in LA when you return or merely making connection at airport.

There may be other options, but this is what I could quickly find.

Thanks everybody! That is exactly the information I was after.

I am leaning towards the "Luxbus" idea as I don't fancy another flight on top of my two long hauls (15 hours!)

Anyway we do actually want to see some of the countryside.

And yes our flight will be LAX - AKL.

I would now also vote for with luxbus.

In your case I'd probably choose Lux Bus too since you will be spending so much time on planes as it is. And it sounds very comfortable w/o the hassles connected w/ airtravel these days. But -- when you say "countryside", don't expect anything scenic between the two cities.

So what is between the two cities? (Because what might be boring for you may be novel for me!)

I agree. Sometimes it is interesting to see some terrain for the first time, just to know what is there. However, it is not scenic, by any means.

No - it isn't because I'm jaded and spoiled living in CA. This is NOT a scenic route. But a more comfortable seat, and no airport hassles could be worth it.

(you do notice in all the descriptions of the coach/routes/amenities/services -- there is not one mention of "watching the countryside from the comfort of your seat" )

Mojave Desert. Honestly, it really isn't THAT bad.

Desert scenery can be amazing - unfortunately I-15 doesn't go through much of that sort of desert.

It might be more scenic than hanging around in an airport lounge for hours.

If you have a reasonably new computer and fast connection, you can always use Google earth to preview your trip by flyover!

I don't think they ban books on busses, either, if you get bored.

Obviously, this is not for everyone, but an option, nevertheless.
