LV shows at a discount?

How can I see a show at a discount . I am heading to LV in April and assume there are lots of discounts out there as well as a lot of scams.

There are several ways

1. High roller - will probably get you free tickets to any show you want

2. Player's Clubs - no need for spending tons of money in the casino, just being a member and just playing for fun may get you a pretty nice discount to shows at that particular hotel or any one of the hotel's partner hotels.

3. Finally - http://www.tix4tonight.com/ sells same day show tickets. It's located on the strip. They start posting availability around 9am and start selling heavily discounted tickets at 10am. Unfortunately the line for the tickets starts forming early in the morning. They will also sell slightly discounted tickets to "sold out" shows(read - most popular shows) whenever they are available. These are the high roller inventory the hotels held onto the morning of the show and realized they won't be used, so might as well sell it.

You might also try Gold Star. You have to sign up, but it's free. I use it A LOT for events in Los Angeles. A link to LV (& other cities) is at the bottom of the page.

Also, have a look at www.smartervegas.com and www.TravelZoo.com (Las Vegas, under Shows & Events).

On Goldstar, be sure to look to the right for additional show date calendars and listings (it's a little confusing).

Tix4Tonight now has FOUR locations, including one at Bill's center Strip. I've read/heard lines are longest at the Fashion Show Mall location. And, ticket prices are not necessarily "heavily discounted" - "up to 50%", but sometimes as low as only 20%. At Tix4Tonight, you cannot select seats, only a price level. Then, you exchange a voucher at the venue for actual tickets with seat assignments, so you have to wait in line twice.

Use Ticketmaster codes last. Ticket prices are marked up significantly, compared to purchasing them online or on the phone from the venue box office, and it's just not necessary to pay their fees and charges.

For many shows, you can find significant discounts at all the resources listed, but also at the hotel box office websites, and even by visiting the hotel box offices upon arrival.

We're going to Las Vegas in April and I used Goldstar for "Le Reve" ($82.50 versus $125 Wynn website or $137.50 Ticketmaster); Venetian online box office for "Phantom" ($40 off, even Golden Circle); TravelZoo for "Jersey Boys" (complimentary upgrade to Front Orchestra seats for just $99 reg. $147).

If you have specific shows in mind, go to the Las Vegas forum on TripAdvisor and browse, search, post an inquiry.

Except for SmarterVegas, which is definitely not a scam, you can find discount codes for almost any show and purchase tickets, select seats, online at the hotel box office website or by phoning. Note, however, that tickets purchased this way generally must be picked up at Will Call no later than one hour before showtime, and Will Call lines can be very long just ahead of a show. So, it's best to drop by early in the day, or sometime after you arrive but before showtime. Any MGM venue tickets can be picked up at any MGM box office, Palazzo or Venetian at either, etc.
