LV- Strip or Off-Strip?
Both times I visited Vegas (over 3 years ago), I stayed on the Strip. And I had a great time and found everything so easy to get to in terms of walking and those free trolley services.
Of course, I haven't been since the new(ish) monorail, and I am wondering if staying off the strip for money costs would be worth it, or if the travel from off strip to strip would eat up any cost savings?
I only ventured once to downtown vegas, via cab, and the round trip was almost 40 bucks (i think) and I felt it was a waste of money.

The monorail serves strip hotels with the minor exception of the Hilton at the convention center. If you stay off strip, the monorail is no help in getting to said strip.
If you stay off strip, several properties do have free transportation with regular scheduling. Orleans, Gold Coast and Rio come immediately to mind.
I like staying on the strip, even after 8-10 trips...just because.

Stay at the Gold coast if you wanna save some bucks. It has shuttle to strip and the two hotels next door to it also have shuttles. It's closer to center strip hotels than south or north strip hotels are, and they don't have shuttles.
