Luxury resort on Nantucket
Hi,
Is there a luxury resort on Nantucket? My husband and I are not fans of B&Bs or small inns. Thank you! |
There are no "resorts" per se on the scale of a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons, but there are some luxurious hotels. Try the Wauwinet, The White Elephant or The Cliffside Beach Club.

The way things are going on Nantucket, some developer will be erecting a horrid luxury resort soon enough. It is bad enough that Mr. Yankee Candle parks his obnoxious yacht in the harbour, much to the consternation of the old families. What a shame.

The Wauwinet qualifies. It is w-a-y out of town (by our standards -- about 15 minutes) and they have both a luxury van and a launch to deliver you to town by water or land. Friends who regularly stayed there went to the White Elephant in town last year and were not impressed, though it has a pool and a great location. They are high-end travelers (Jumby Bay etc) so I trust their judgement.

Thanks everyone.
Although I don't like luxury resorts ruining a quaint vacation spot, it is very convenient for some of us with little babies. An Inn or BandB just wouldn't work for us right now. Plus, we just don't like them. Thanks again. |
"The way things are going on Nantucket, some developer will be erecting a horrid luxury resort soon enough" Ick! Bite your tongue!

Syd, When my kids were babies we often had to stay in inns before or after our rental started in Nantucket, and most are very accomodating. The Brant Point Inn was very accomodating and private for an inn. I'm pretty sure they had a big suite...

The other place we stayed for a few nights is now called the Point Breeze. If you're staying longer than a few nights it's really best to rent a house with kids/babies on Ack.
