Luxor VS Bally's VS MGM ??
My boyfriend and I will be driving cross-country this summer and it will include 2 nights in Las Vegas. We've never been there. I've found similar deals at Bally's and MGM (Emerald Tower). The Luxor is also available for only $10 more. What do you suggest? We won't be doing tons of gambling, it's just part of a bigger trip, but we want "the experience". The room is important to me and the casino important to him. Thanks for any help.

I'm tempted to say "go with MGM" as it's more clichy Vegas. Bally's would be OK as well. Luxor is nouveau Vegas hokum, and the people I know who have stayed there like it (but rate it well below the Bellagio or Aladdin). If you'd like some more irreverant reviews, you will love this website:

Paris and Aladdin offer the best combination of moderate price, good location, theme (for those who want a "Vegas-y" hotel), food etc etc.
Try to arrange your trip so you'll be there on weekdays and you'll save quite a few $$. |
We went to Bally's earlier this year and thought it was terrible. I searched for my post but it isn't on this board anymore.
Sewage backed up into our shower, the room (a suite!) was filthy, and the hotel was very unresponsive when I brought the problems (politely) to their attention. Agree that Aladdin can be a good deal. I like the location and the rooms, but gamble elsewhere. Don't know what your boyfriend is looking for in a casino, but Aladdin is connected to Paris, and is across the street from Bellagio. If you're traveling in summer, you should be able to get a good rate at many strip hotels -- keep checking. Have fun! |
Paris and Aladdin are not connected. It's Bally's and Paris that are connected. The search function is dysfunctional at present. |
