Luxor or MGM?

I am so confused! We would like to go to Vegas for 1 week in August but can not decide where to stay. The Unofficial Guide to Vegas rates the rooms at the MGM a step above the Luxors rooms. The rate is 69.00 at both places so price here is not a factor. I am hearing nice things about the Luxor too, though. Any good ideas from you? Annemarie

Sorry, forgot to add that we will be taking our 2 teens, probably be getting 2 rooms. Is the Emerald Tower that inferior at MGM?
I have stayed at the MGM a few years ago. It was a great place to stay with many activities for young and old alike. I have never stayed at Luxor but have been there for day use. Both places are superb for activities, decor and just plain entertainment. Wherever you choose to stay, you'll find the rooms satisfactory and attractive. The competition for visitors' dollars is so great that all the major hotels in Vegas treat you well. And as far as which rooms are nicer...it's been my experience that we spend very little time in them because there is so much to do and so many things to see!
Good luck in your search and have a great trip!
We have stayed at both places and I personally like the MGM's rooms better. I have never stayed in the Emerald Tower, though, and have heard the rooms there are small and dark. In the main towers, however, the rooms are huge and very nicely decorated and the bathrooms are spacious and luxurious. There are many eating places and the monorail to Bally's is convenient. Their pool is also nice.

We found the rooms in the Luxor pyramid smaller with only a shower(no tub) in the bathroom. On some of the lower floors, casino noise can be a problem also. They have built two new towers at Luxor, though, and I've heard they're nicer, but I haven't stayed in the new part yet.

Good luck.
the MGM has a nice pool now with a river that has a fun current to rent tubes and float in. MGM is also linked with a monorail to Bally's that is quick and free. MGM has a food court which is a huge help with kids as in August it is wall to wall people with lines at all eating places. Save your money and go see "O" at Bellagio. It is well worth the money and will a memory that stays with you for a long time.
